Late in 2016, Pianist Elaina Burns approached me after encountering my work for piano that I wrote for Nick Phillips. The idea of a collaboration sprang up, and low and behold, a new commission was born. I was incredibly excited to write this work for Elaina, who also plans to record the piece on a forthcoming album.
