Dreaming is Dangerous

About:  In Dreaming is Dangerous, I playfully explore melodic evolution over the piece’s duration. The first snippets of my melody are heard as tiered entrances in a hazy sound-world. Low woodwinds undulate in sextuplet figures, and staccato sixteenths move the music through the fog. After the piece's first wave, a sparser middle section features instruments pulsating on unisons and grabbing the end of each other’s lines, like a piano’s damper pedal. Momentum builds again, and the melody clearly emerges in one line at the climax, before falling back into a dreamy haze.
