Pianist Paul Barnes, celebrating twenty years of collaboration with composer Philip Glass offers a unique recording juxtaposing Glass's newly published etudes with a new generation of younger composers. Produced by Glass's label Orange Mountain Music, the recording features a selection of Glass's etudes with works by N.

About:  This collection follows in the same vein as my Piano Thoughts, Vol. 1 - little meanderings as I sat at the piano and played what felt good. After performing my Vol. 1 in October of 2014, Paul Barnes commissioned me for a second set. I dove back into my storage bin of recorded improvisations, and picked ones that seemed to fit together, refining them in the span of a few days. It was refreshing to create a piece in this way - composition as self-curation. These volumes have helped my music develop a spontaneity and organicism over the last few years - I hope and plan to write more of them.
